Diabetic Microvascular Disease

چکیده
Diabetes is characterized by major changes in the microvascular system. Multiple pathways exist that explain the occurrence of vascular and cellular changes in diabetes. These are abnormalities in oxidation pathways, polyol pathways, glycation end products and protein kinase C (PKC) pathways. Drugs that inhibit PKC-beta are being developed and some of the drugs such as riboxstaurin that are being tried in large randomized trials appear promising for diabetic retinal disease. The drug development is in its infancy and much more pharmacological effort and clinical trials are needed before such drugs are routinely prescribed.

بررسی شیوع همزمانی عوارض میکروواسکولار و بیماری عروق کرونر در بیماران مبتلا به دیابت تیپ II
Abstract Abstract: Diabetic Mellitus (DM) is a systemic disease that affects all body organs. Micro and macro vascular complications progress with diabetes progression. It is important to find a solution for early diagnosis of coronary artery disease that is a major cause of death in these patients. The goal of this study is to assess the relation between diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy to...

Abstract: Background: Diabetic patients encounter numerous skin lesions. The present study surveyed the frequency of skin lesions among 1135 diabetic patients and their association with microvascular complications. Materials and methods: For this cross sectional study, 1135 diabetic patients (type II diabetes mellitus) wee selected through Iranian Diabetes Association, dermatologic and endocr...
متن کاملNon-albuminuric Diabetic Kidney Disease in Diabetic Patients: A Review
Introduction: The constantly increasing incidence of type 2 diabetes, probably due to obesity and sedentary life, has led to the increased incidence of macro- and microvascular diabetic complications such as nephropathy. Despite the prompt efforts to develop effective treatments for diabetes and slow the progression of its complications, it is still reported as the most common cause of chronic ...
متن کاملEndothelial Progenitor Cells in Diabetic Microvascular Complications: Friends or Foes?
Despite being featured as metabolic disorder, diabetic patients are largely affected by hyperglycemia-induced vascular abnormality. Accumulated evidence has confirmed the beneficial effect of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in coronary heart disease. However, antivascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment is the main therapy for diabetic retinopathy and nephropathy, indicating...
متن کاملIndices Indicating Early Renal Microvascular Disease in Diabetes
Renal microvascular disease is crucial to renal disease progression. Renal microvascular disease in late stage diabetic nephropathy is associated with defective angiogenesis and fails to respond to vasodilator treatment. Recognition of early renal microvascular disease is necessary, since in this stage, the vascular homeostasis is adequately functional and responsive to vasodilator treatment. I...
متن کاملDiabetic Peripheral Microvascular Complications: Relationship to Cognitive Function
Peripheral microvascular complications in diabetes are associated with concurrent cerebrovascular disease. As detailed cognitive assessment is not routinely carried out among diabetic patients, the aim was to establish whether the presence of clinical "peripheral" microvascular disease can identify a subgroup of patients with early evidence of cognitive impairment. Detailed psychometric assessm...
